Complete Review of the ZQuiet Snoring Mouthpiece

The ZQuiet Review

In my never ending quest to find the perfect anti-snore device the next product I wanted to test was the ZQuiet. This is one of the best-selling anti-snore devices on the market and with the advertising slogan “pop it in, and the noise is gone,” this was a device just crying out to be tested.

Not having an unlimited budget to test all of these products, I was delighted to take up the companies offer of a 30 day trial for $9.99. This was not an exclusive offer to me because I wanted to test the device without the companies knowledge, this is available to anyone. The trial works by charging your credit card the full amount of $79.95 about 35 days after you start the trial. This gives you 30 days to properly test the product, and if you don’t find any improvement, or don’t feel that it is working for you, call the company for an RMA number. I really appreciated this system and felt it was an inexpensive way to trial the product.

Zquiet – Two MAD Devices For The Price Of One

The Z Quiet is a mandibular-advancement splint device. Most people snore because when they fall asleep on their back, their tongue becomes a dead weight, the throat muscles relax, and the snoring noise is the air being forced through an ever decreasing gap. MAD devices take a physical approach to the problem by manually moving your lower jaw to create a bigger space and removing the problem at source, or at least that’s the theory.

Not everybody’s mouth is the same, and companies tackle this inherent problem in many different ways. Zquiet have perhaps the most elegant solution that incorporates two special systems. Their first idea is to provide you with two separate mouth guards. One of the mouthguards only moves your lower jaw a very small amount, while the second provides a slightly more pronounced movement. This is a unique, and I would imagine not an inexpensive solution to the problem.

The second part of the solution is their patented “Living Hinge” technology which I also think is a fantastic idea. Compared to other solutions that involve moving parts, and a little bit of trial and error on the user’s behalf, this is the mouth guard equivalent to driving an automatic vehicle. Over the course of the night, as you sleep, your mouth will inevitably open and close. The special technology reacts to this maintaining the appropriate gaps automatically without any active input from the user.

In my opinion, an anti-snore device should be all about easing the stress and worry, while solving the problem, and ease of use was clearly an aim of the designers. It is pretty much a set and forget system, which means that people are more likely to use it, as there is virtually no room for human error.

Comfort And Ease Of Use

Forget the scientific blurb, the complaints of your partner or any other factors, the reality of the situation is that if a device is uncomfortable to wear, especially considering that you will be wearing it for a minimum 6 hours every single night, you simply won’t wear it.

In my personal experience, this device fits like a glove. The material is soft and pliable, and the device allows you to breathe naturally through your nose and mouth, something that not all of these devices can achieve. Admittedly having tested a lot of these devices the muscle memory in my jaws is now used to wearing a snore relief mouthpiece, so if you are trying it for the first time, there may be a small period of settling in. But with a thirty-day testing period you should certainly be able to ascertain whether or not the device is a comfortable fit for you. Using the product is really simple, you simply put it in your mouth, and drift off to sleep. Perhaps the most amazing part of the design is that even when wearing it, I was still able to take a drink of water. This is the only anti-snore device that I have tested, and there have been a few, where this was possible. It is really difficult to explain how the hinge works, suffice to say that it simply does. There really is no barrier to entry with this device, the only exception being if you wear full dentures, or have loose teeth, in which case, unfortunately, this device is unsuitable for you.

Effectiveness

Obviously, it is relatively difficult to personally evaluate the success of a device, as if it works as promised you will be asleep. In an ideal world, you should wake up feeling more refreshed and having a lot more energy, but in my case, I simply asked my wife. She gave the Zquiet a glowing report, saying that it was the best nights sleep she had had in years. I can’t even begin to explain how fantastic it felt to hear her say that, keeping my partner awake due to my snoring weighed very heavily on my mind, and over an extended period of time, could easily cause fractures in your relationship. Personally, I awoke feeling refreshed and full of energy which was exactly the outcome I was looking for.

Quality

Considering that this is one of the cheapest products on the market and that you get two separate mouthpieces, you would expect the quality of the finished product to suffer, but I was pleasantly surprised. In my opinion, the quality of the product is right up there, and it certainly does not feel like a cheap piece of kit. The two mouthpieces both come supplied with their own storage case, which is an essential part of the system, as according to the instructions, you must store your mouthpiece in the case during the day or when not in use.

This ensures that the device retains its shape and also maintains your investment by protecting the device from any accidental damage. The Zquiet is made from thermoplastic elastomer, designed for FDA compliance. The FDA designates the ZQuiet as a class II medical device. According to the manufacturer, the product has been rigorously tested and does not contain latex or Bisponel A. The manufacturer predicts that the Zquiet will last for many months of nightly use, and my personal device has certainly lasted for five months so far, without showing any visible signs of deterioration. Some research across the internet, however, does show some complaints that people feel their device is wearing out quicker than they would have expected.

Service

As mentioned above with the possible exception of sending you the device for free, I cannot think of anything that the company could do to improve their offer or service. You get to try the device for $9.95 with no other expenditure until you decide to keep it. Provided you get an RMA number within your 30-day trial, you won’t be charged anything further.

Cleaning And Maintenance

The most important thing to remember is that you must store the device safely in its supplied case, during periods when it isn’t being used. This makes sense for a product that you are going to put in your mouth every evening, and it also gives added protection from breakages and helps the product to retain its shape. Cleaning the device is a breeze, all that is required is a mixture of warm water and mild dish soap. For an extra deep clean you can use a toothbrush to scrub your Zquiet, although do not use any toothpaste as this will discolour your device and could damage the smooth surface, making it more uncomfortable to wear.

Summary

The Zquiet is one of the cheapest stop snoring devices on the market at only $79.99. Combined with an extremely customer friendly and cheap method to trial the device I cannot see any reason why someone serious about solving their snoring problem, wouldn’t give this product a try.

In my experience, the devices were delivered very quickly, were of excellent quality, and as an added benefit, my wife, and I were both able to experience the products because the Zquiet comes with two mouth pieces. If you are lucky enough that each of you find one that fits perfectly, then you truly do end up with an absolute bargain, two for the price of one.

The Zquiet fitted first time in my mouth and felt comfortable instantly, without the need for any maintenance or messing about. There is the option to trim around the edges should there be an issue, but personally, I don’t think I would want to attempt this as I do wonder if you would be able to achieve a smooth surface, once you start cutting. When I tell you that DIY in our house stands for Destroy It Yourself, you will understand why so perhaps I am not best placed to judge that aspect of the device.

In my opinion, this is the best value snoring guard on the market, and I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending it.
