Even though The Last of Us Part 2 was released just a month before it, Ghost of Tsushima managed to be both a critical and commercial hit upon its July 2020 launch. Sucker Punch's fastest-selling game in the US and the 7th best-selling game of 2020, Ghost of Tsushima performed very well during its first year, and that success only continued with the launch of Ghost of Tsushima's Director's Cut in August 2021.
Now, four years after its initial launch, Ghost of Tsushima is generally viewed as one of PlayStation's strongest IPs, and it feels as though Sucker Punch and Sony are only just getting started. Though a sequel hasn't been officially confirmed yet, Ghost of Tsushima 2 feels like an inevitability at this point. That feeling grows stronger every time Ghost of Tsushima makes headlines, and that's becoming a more frequent occurrence, as two Ghost of Tsushima spinoff projects are currently in the works.

Ghost of Tsushima's Future Is Looking Bright
Ghost of Tsushima Is Getting a Live-Action Adaptation
Back in March 2021 – less than a year after the game's launch – a Ghost of Tsushima live-action movie adaptation was confirmed to be in development by Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions. It was also announced that Chad Stahelski – the primary director of the John Wick franchise and a prolific stunt performer – would be directing and producing the Ghost of Tsushima live-action movie.
Official details on the Ghost of Tsushima live-action adaptation have been few and far between over the last three years, though there have been a few leaks and rumors surrounding the project. The most recent rumor hit the internet back in June of this year, claiming that Shogun's Hiroyuki Sanada could be joining the Ghost of Tsushima movie's cast, likely as protagonist Jin Sakai's uncle. The Ghost of Tsushima live-action adaptation doesn't currently have a release window.
Ghost of Tsushima Is Getting an Animated Adaptation
But before Ghost of Tsushima heads to the realm of big-budget live-action adaptations, it's set to receive something akin to an animated spinoff with the upcoming Secret Level. Created by Love, Death + Robots' Blur Studio, Secret Level was announced a few weeks ago during Gamescom Opening Night Live. Secret Level is an Amazon Prime streaming show that contains 15 animated, standalone short stories, each one centered around a different video game, such as Mega Man, Armored Core, Sifu, and New World: Aeternum.
It's been confirmed that Ghost of Tsushima's Jin Sakai will appear in one of Secret Level's 15 episodes, though the exact details of the episode's content are currently unknown. Based on the character's brief appearance in the reveal trailer, it seems likely that Jin Sakai won't feature in his own standalone episode focused on Ghost of Tsushima, but instead appear alongside other confirmed PlayStation mascots like God of War's Kratos in some kind of franchise-merging plot.
Ghost of Tsushima 2 Feels Inevitable
If its sales numbers weren't enough of an indication that Ghost of Tsushima is only getting started, then its two upcoming adaptations should be more than enough evidence. It seems as though Sony has a great deal of confidence in the Ghost of Tsushima brand, and with that in mind, it seems extremely unlikely that a Ghost of Tsushima 2 isn't currently in development at Sucker Punch. But fans will probably need to keep holding their breath for a little longer.
